Moving a single piece of furniture in Valencia: cost and how it's worked out
Moving a single piece of furniture in Valencia costs, as an approximate guide, from 110 €: that is the minimum of 2 hours of van with driver at 55 €/h. If the item is heavy or there are stairs and the driver also loads (20 € for each hour of loading and unloading), 2 hours come to about 130 €; with a second mover for the whole time, about 170 €. It makes no difference whether it’s a sofa, a mattress, a wardrobe or a washing machine: you pay for time, not for items.
Below you’ll find the formula, a table of typical cases, when a helper is worth it, what happens if the item is going to another town, and what you can do to stay within the minimum.
How is the price of moving one item calculated?
It is calculated by the hour: hours × 55 € for the van with driver + 20 € for each hour the driver loads and unloads + hours × 20 € for each additional mover, with a 2-hour minimum for the van. Figures are approximate and include VAT (IVA). We give the final price in the quote before starting, once we have seen the photos, the floors and the access.
- Time runs from the moment the van arrives at the pickup address until unloading is finished. The drive within Valencia (usually 15–30 minutes) is included in those hours.
- The 2-hour minimum exists because the crew has to come from their base, park, load, strap the load with belts and blankets, drive, unload and go back. If it’s all done in an hour, you pay the minimum; if it takes three, you pay three.
- There is no per-item price. A sofa on its own, or a sofa plus three boxes, costs the same if it fits in the same time. So it pays to make the most of the trip.
We follow the job through to the end. You pay once the work is done, in cash or by bank transfer, and the VAT invoice is issued by the partner carrier that does the job.
How much does it cost to move a sofa, a mattress or a wardrobe?
These are typical cases within Valencia and the metropolitan area, worked out with the formula above. They are not a per-item tariff: they show you the ballpark.
| What you’re moving | Typical situation | Team | Time | Approximate price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 135 or 150 cm mattress | Lift or ground floor, you load | Van only (you load) | 2 h | 110 € |
| Table, chest of drawers or armchair | Lift, you load | Van only (you load) | 2 h | 110 € |
| Three-seater sofa | Doesn’t fit in the lift, goes by the stairs | Van + 1 mover (the driver) | 2 h | 130 € |
| Washing machine or fridge | 2nd–3rd floor, with or without lift | Van + 1 mover (the driver) | 2 h | 130 € |
| Large wardrobe (dismantle and reassemble) | Flat with lift | Van + 1 mover (the driver) | 3 h | 195 € |
| Chaise longue or corner sofa | 4th floor, no lift | Van + 2 movers (one is the driver) | 2 h | 170 € |
How to read it: 2 h × 55 € = 110 €; the driver also loading adds 1 h × 20 € = 20 € (130 €); a second mover adds 2 h × 20 € = 40 € (170 €). A wardrobe that needs taking apart and putting back together can take 3 hours: 3 × 55 € + 1.5 h × 20 € = 195 €. Floors, dismantling and packing are assessed by us in the quote, so the real figure may go up or down.
Do I need a helper, or is the driver enough?
Van with driver, with you doing the loading, is enough if two people can handle the item comfortably and you will help: a mattress, a table, a chest of drawers, a few chairs. If the driver loads too, it is 20 € for each hour of loading and unloading.
Add one helper when:
- the item is heavy or bulky: three-seater sofa, wardrobe, washing machine, fridge, solid wood sideboard;
- there are stairs without a lift at either end, or the item doesn’t fit in the lift;
- you can’t lift (for health or age reasons, or because you won’t be there).
Add two helpers for corner sofas, heavy sofa beds, American-style fridges or any large piece that has to go up several floors on foot. It looks more expensive, but two quick people usually finish within the 2-hour minimum, with less risk of knocks on the stairs and walls. More on the service in loaders in Valencia.
Appliances have their own quirks (draining the washer, locking the drum, letting the fridge stand): see how to move a fridge and a washing machine.
Will it fit through the stairwell and the lift?
Before asking for a price, measure. It’s the question that saves the most time on the day.
- Measure the item: length, height and depth, plus the diagonal for a sofa.
- Measure the way through: width of the flat door, the building entrance, the lift (door and cabin) and the narrowest part of the stairs.
- Compare: if the sofa is deeper than the lift door is wide, it goes by the stairs. If it won’t turn on the landing either, legs, arms or back have to come off.
- Send the measurements and a photo with your request: we decide how many people are needed.
We don’t hoist furniture over balconies or up the façade. If an item won’t go up the stairs even dismantled, it’s better to find out before the day than with the sofa stuck on the landing.
What if the item is going to another town or city?
Within Valencia city and the metropolitan area the hourly rate applies. For other towns in the Valencian Community the price is worked out by distance: the higher of 110 € or one-way kilometres × 2,65 € (VAT included; the return trip is not charged), plus helper hours if needed.
| Destination from Valencia | Approx. one-way km | Approximate transport |
|---|---|---|
| Sagunto | 28 km | 110 € (minimum) |
| Alzira | 44 km | 116.60 € |
| Xàtiva | 62 km | 164.30 € |
| Gandia | 70 km | 185.50 € |
The full list of towns is on removal prices across the Valencian Community. If the item is going much further, say to Madrid or Barcelona, the same 2,65 €/km one-way applies: for a single piece at that distance a dedicated van may not pay off, and it’s worth comparing with a parcel or furniture-shipping service.
What else should go on the same trip?
Since you pay for time and not for pieces, make the most of the van. The van carries only your things (loads from different customers are never mixed), so anything that fits in those 2 hours costs practically the same:
- the mattress and the bed base;
- the sofa and the coffee table, a rolled-up rug and a few boxes;
- the washing machine and the bathroom cabinet you’re taking to recycling.
If it’s actually several pieces and a whole room, it’s closer to a small move in Valencia, with prices by case. And if the furniture comes straight from the shop, see how to get IKEA Alfafar furniture home.
How can I pay less to move a single item?
- Take it apart beforehand if you can: legs, headboard, shelves, wardrobe doors. Fewer big pieces, less time.
- Protect it yourself: plastic cover for the mattress, blanket or stretch film for the sofa, cardboard on the corners.
- Bring it near the door if it’s manageable, or at least clear the hallway.
- Keep a parking spot free outside the building at both ends. Ten minutes looking for parking are ten minutes you pay for.
- Be precise in your request: measurements, floor, lift and photos. A quote based on accurate details avoids surprises for both sides.
- Pick an early-morning slot: less traffic and easier parking.
